Default New Whitestripe tyres for 1964 Mk2

Hi,

The Mk2 went off to the garage for an assessment for getting it back on the road. It had not moved from my garage for the last 16 years.

I am concerned about the tyres and the garage have strongly recommended replacement tyres - which I agree with.

Can anyone suggest a reliable supplier in Worcestershire UK and approximate costs?

Vehicle is 1964 Mk2 3.8 MOD. 47,000 miles.

Photos attached.

Thanks for any advice......

Default tyres

Hi 434 MHz,
I have fitted Nankang 185R15 tyres, style of tyre is retro to my Daimler V8 they were well priced as compared to Michelin. These have a tread pattern similar to the Michelin tread pattern from the 1960,s They are not white side wall.

I don't know them, but you could try Treads of Malvern, they are a tyre importer, usually tyre importers will be considerably cheaper than other tyre fitting companies.

I have Unity Tyres near me and they are 20% to 50% cheaper than others, so worth a try ?

You can get whitewall covers that sit between the rim and the tyre, not sure how good they are or if there are any problems with them but they have been around for ages.

Default White wall covers.

Hi,
When I bought my Daimler V8 the tyres has groves in the side wall caused by white wall covers flapping over a long period There was no white wall covers on the car but you could see where they had been cut off with out removing the tyre. I felt the side walls were no longer safe and replaced the tyres. I would not use these white wall covers.
regards
David Bruce.

I got Continental mud and snows with a white side wall stripe, not expensive.
