Automatic choke solenoid 1964 3.8 MK2
Hi folks,
Getting very close to starting my 3.8 after a complete engine rebuild. How should the body of the automatic choke solenoid be finished? When I removed mine from my engine it was just dirty metal finish. It did not seem to have any paint on it. The casing of the solenoid body is now clean but still ugly with no finish. Can anyone tell me how these were finished when installed?
Thanks very much.

No, our device is made up of a base with two 'towers', one of which is the solenoid, initself some 2" tall, with cap & leads.

Parts for Jaguar Mark II and Daimler V8
I don't know anything about this supplier, but they seem to have the stuff. They are based in Germany.

Ollibee,
You are exactly correct. Here is what mine looked like before restoration. Looks like it lost some of its finish to leaking petrol!

Hi all - not exactly an answer to the thread but I need your help: during restoration of my XK120 OTS 1954 the automatic choke solenoid (between the carburators) "disappeared". Any idea where I can purchase another one? Which brand did Jaguar use for the solenoid?
SNG BarratI just informed that a choke solenoid for my XK120 OTS 1954 (part 4740) is no longer available. What a pity. Does anyone know of another supplier of a new/used choke solenoid?
And if you have a duff one I guess you don't have much choice either !!
I found other suppliers that want £72 + VAT too !!!
