Hi MK2,
I've just been reading your Post from August 2015
"64 MK2 Trouble mounting front suspension crossmember"
I am currently about to re-fit my assembly (after 3 years) and have found that the rear mounting blocks have a front & rear end, you mention that you had yours fitted correctly, do you remember which way they should be fitted.
The blocks have a protruding base/stud at one end, does this point to the front or rear of the car, it's not clear from my Service Manual and after 3 years the memory is vague.
