Default Question about MK2 Overdrive wiring

I am "deconstructing" my old wiring harness as a learning experience before I delve into the creation of a new one. As often happens with this stuff I have missed something along the way. I have about a six foot run of solid yellow wire 10 or 12 gauge that I know is part of the wiring that is in the primary harness. It has a rubber bullet connector on one end and at that end I am sure it connects to the separate overdrive harness. My question is to what does the other end attach?

The overdrive control switch on the steering column has two wires. One is yellow with a purple tracer. The other is all yellow. I assume that my mystery wire connects to this solid yellow wire from the control switch.

The only reason I am doubting myself on this is that the mystery yellow wire has an in-line fuse on its end terminated by a bullet connector. For the life of me I surely do not recall taking a wire with an in-line fuse out from under the dash when I was disassembling the car - other than for the radio.

Can anyone who has knowledge of this (please not a guess) confirm my assumed connection to the yellow wire at the control switch. By the way it uses an 8 amp Lucas fuse in the in-line fuse holder. So I kind of also assume that it is original. Was there really an in-line fuse up under the dash for this?

Thanks very much!!

Lin

Apologies for hijacking this without providing a useful reply (I'm away from my car at the moment but will take photos of the OD lever wiring soon) - if anyone has a shot of the overdrive switch wiring on the top if the gearbox that would be useful too. I have 3 green wires and don't know which is which!

Default Question about MK2 Overdrive wiring

All,
Phillip Prior got my answer for me. The in-line fuse was added later in production in 1964 and was described in a service bulletin he shared.

Thanks Phillip!

Do we have a place on this forum where you could scan and post that bulletin? I've got a fuse looking almost identical to that one but I don't have overdrive. I'll have a look at it after all the masking paper comes off again.
