Default Rear engine mounting

Good day.

This is the Rear Engine Mounting Coil Spring. I am not sure what the plastic part is. Is it the retainer for the coil spring? I don't seem to find a replacement on SNG Barrat.

Thanks

Default Rear engine mounting.

Spring with cup on either end & rubber bush for rear vertical shaft in back engine/GB mounting.

Barratts only seem to have bits & pieces in stock. Try David Manners, Norman Motors, Martin Robey. Note there are a number of springs dependent on your configuration, Auto, Manual, Manual/OD etc. ~ Rubber cup top & bottom of spring. Rubber bush on shaft.

Thanks Glyn. That is the way I have it as well, a cup on each side and a bush. I was just wondering because in my car there is a larger plastic part inside the spring, I assume it some sort of replacement for the bush as there was none. I'll replace the correct parts now.

The Bush is one thing Barratts do have.

This is the early mounting for manual or automatic at one time. Stay well away from it. See temporary assembly pin & washer.

Is for assembly purposes only.............. If you leave them attached you will suffer from severe NVH issues. The same applies to the new mounting that you will have. See the hole in my shaft above.

It seems counterintuitive, but the rear of the transmission just floats; it's supported on the spring and stays there only by it's own weight.
