What are these things I found in my rear coil springs
Hi all, I found the items below wedged in my coil springs. They look like a tool of sorts, but can't figure out their purpose. If anyone knows that would be helpful.
Just replace the spring isolators if they are deteriorated.
Unless you use the aftermarket POS plastic KYB installed as new large donuts, then you’ll still need those helper spacers. Note to anyone needing to replace the rear upper shock mounts, use OEM Jaguar only! Yes it’s foam but, it’s still way better than the KYB (or anything other than oem) large donuts on the rear upper springs.

I was going to replace that mounts and already got KYB. Whats wrong with it?
It’s a lot more of a plastic than a oem foam. When the hot summer months hit, the large rear aftermarket donuts pretty much melt. I don’t mean completely melt, but it gets squishy like a marshmallow and the rear ride height is affected. In my opinion they’re just terrible. The oem ones last at least 5 times longer.
Agree 100%, replaced all of the rear end bushings/isolators on my old car with OEM and it was worth every penny. Ride height was perfect and car rode like brand new.
It is a little bit unnerving to recognize that something so seemingly trivial plays such a large part in
in the ride and overall feel of these cars. Back in the days of "spin tires...go fast" we used air shocks
to adjust how the car "sat down" when accelerating from a stopped position. The use of spacers in
the springs was not considered a good fix as it changed the normal ride of the car.
