i like rebuilding more than R&R so i decided to rebuild these sweeps with left over stuff. originals were completely toast and i couldn't see hunting up new stuff if i could make due.
edge on of wiper blade
original top rebuild bottom
furflex top rebuild in progress original wiper from walmart bottom
if you don't have any furflex i'm sure a good velveteen would work. clean off the remaining cloth from the body/strap of the sweep. plain old contact cement worked for me. 3 coats (fabric soaks it up). trimmed up with a razor and done. for the exterior, the last grooves opposite from the blade face fit well into the exterior trim moulding with a little armorall to lube them and the channel up. i found that pushing in the bottom first with finger pressure and then the top with a plastic blade worked best. the sweep is a little tight against the glass but not real bad. you'll see that the wood has to come off to get at the trim moulding. i only removed the four screws starting from the back of the door, with those out you can lift the moulding straight up to access the channel and feed the wiper in from there.
