One thing we have learned on the Register is that there is no such thing as a standard Jaguar in our era. There is absolutely no question that a car built this week could differ from a car built 3 weeks later. A lot of handwork went into them & parts supply could be erratic so they built the car with what they had or could get. We have even found cars with red Hardura felt behind dashes an tucked under carpets up front where black was the spec. They even had diff/axle ratio changes used when Salisbury went on strike.

This forum always goes OT. No discipline. Mods should stamp it out. We would not tolerate this at MBWorld where I'm a Super Mod & Ambassador. Why we are the jewel in the Internet Brands Automotive crown followed by Audi. (IBA also owns this forum)

Back on topic. I think the first thing you should do is evaluate all the XJ6 & later wheels that we know fit. I'm pretty sure that you will like one of the styles. You even liked my first response. You can play around with hubcentric spacers later. I think you should go for a Coombs genuine rear arch. Not a narrow spat. They just rolled it over a piece of suitable pipe. And if you open the rear arch don't let anybody tell you you can't use hubcentric spacers ~ many scare stories out there on vibration that are BS. If Porsche can use them on their latest cars. They will be no issue on an old Jag, Just buy H&R or another highly reputable brand.

Don't get yourself tied up with too many wheels or it will just confuse you & you don't want to get into having to modify wheels. Otherwise you may as well go to Boyd Coddington & have a set of one-off custom wheels made, Like a certain Dallas/Rockwall friend of mine.

Take a good look at the Jag range & keep focused. You may have to do some test fits but that's fine if it's 3 & not 300. If you have too many choices you will never get there.
Good luck!

One of Coombs last cars built & no they did not always go for wires. But always centre locks with racing in mind.

Lots of pictures and some suppliers. In alloys, only original Jaguar types will stay in character on a Mk2. Some of the Daimler styles, which unfortunately never reached the US and are in small numbers in the UK, are best (for me).

In steel, no doubt there's a lot of choice from GM. It would be a matter of finding some with correct (or too large and reduce with spacers) offset and the rim size that you want.

And apologies for going off topic. However, this is the happy and polite end of the internet with old buffers whose minds wander ...

PS I look forward to receiving the prize coconut for the indicators.

These are the style favoured by Glyn. They don't look bad on a Mk2. They are almost certainly 15×6. The offset should be OK.

Yes that's a particularly scruffy Pepper Pot wheel that I think would look good.

But frankly I think that the XJ6 series 2 wheel I posted in my very first pic on the builder's stands with hubcap would look better. In fact very good with Coombs rear arches. All very personal for an OP that does not want Wires.

Pepperpot

XJ6 Series 2 (Excuse the Daimler cap ~ available with Jag Growler centre cap of identical shape as in post 2 & on Bills car).
