Glyn mentioned this is another thread. This is my solution to keeping the boot tidy with everything hidden away.
Having too much in the boot is a pain as it slides all over the place and looks untidy if you go to a show.
For those of you with an S type you will know you have a lot of room over the top of the rear IRS set up in the boot. Unfortunately it is a long way back and things still slide around so I built a box that sits on the raised platform with a door held shut with a leather strap. In the box I keep my tool box, emergency spare parts and all my cleaning gear. As you can see from the photos once the black vinyl covered door is closed unless you knew how much space was in the boot of the S type you would not know it was there.
This is the shape of the box to fit the shape of the space over the IRS. Bit of a strange angled shape but a standard square box does not fit. The empty box in place door open. Door held closed with a leather belt strap. The box filled with all my bits and pieces. The boot space with all the bits put away and the door closed. This is actually the boot space without the boot box in place.
pretty smart . Make me one.
I would add spring clips and leather straps with snaps to hold each item tightly so no movement. My Saab 900T had a similar compartment with a cardboard tool box, a bag for a dirty spare tire, and an emergency 1 gallon portable fuel tank. When I sold it I kept the tool box, unused tire bag, but sold the portable fuel tank which I now wished I had.
