The knob facing out is unusual, is there a date stamp or any identification on the inside faces ?
Thanks for the reply. There is no date stamp but the British patent number matches that shown in the article you linked. Any idea of a value or anyone that may need/want it?
These seem to be advertised in the £200 - £300 region, but you can get a pair of seats for £1000 ish, so if someone was going to adapt the seat, £200 - £300 seems a little high, the other problem is not knowing what make/model this comes from makes it difficult to advertise them properly.
I can't find any reference to the outward facing handle, so they may be rare and command more, but value is subjective based on who's prepared to pay the money.
Do you have a pair and do you have the link tube that goes between them, I can't see them being worth a great deal if you haven't got a complete pair, but as I said if they are rare and someone has a broken one, then the value goes up !
Someone else on here may be able to identify them, they were used on Bentley's Merc's Porsche etc.
I purchased them thinking they were for a Porsche 356 and then found out they were for Jaguar cars. The Porsche versions have Reutter Stuttgart on them not Reutter London. I only have what is seen in the picture.
I have looked at this a little more, the 2 hole hinge is post 1957, and it is the seat manufacturer A W Chapman that is London, they made seats for many cars, and primarily public transport, and they still exist today ! You could try calling them to see if they have someone there that would know what it was from.
It may be that these are from a coach, which would explain the outward facing knob, as there is more room to the side of a coach seat than a car seat. I don't think that Jaguar or any other top marque would have used a seat that carried the name of someone else ! This would explain the plain knobs on almost every Reutters recliner I have ever seen.

Greetings, I stumbled across your site quite accidentally whilst researching the AW Chapman reclining seats . Ford Australia fitted the same mechanism to the '65/'66 Ford Falcons as part of the higher spec Fairmont model. The reclining lever knob bares the same AW Chapman (Reutter) London logo and were identical to the recliners as fitted to the '65 Mk 3 Ford Zodiacs. So if anyone is searching for a set of these recliners, then an another avenue is the Ford UK Zodiac Executive, but I think they are very thin on the ground also.
I also subscribe to the theory that the set as purchased by JWINUK are probably coach derived due to the bent lever. The Ford version are not bent probably due to a kack of clearance with doors etc...Here are pictures of my seats.. https://imgur.com/a/tEMeN
...further here is a picture of a '65 Mk 3 Zodiac depicting the front seats. The seat is almost identical to the Australian Falcon save for it the recline lever being on the door side. I now recall that our Falcon levers were on the tunnel side , although I have seen some early builds being the same as the UK version. By coincidence this Mk 3 was for sale in the UK in 2013 and I beleive it was the same one I saw at Phillip Island a few years ago. Both seats had been reupholstered in vinyl .......sorry to hijack a Jaguar forum . I shan't make a habit of it.
