Default Throttle Linkage

I've gotten my engine back in the 340 and am in the process of hooking things together. A problem I've encountered is the throttle linkage. I removed the linkage from the original engine and let it hang when the engine was pulled. I now cannot figure why it won't fit properly. The engine I've installed is from a 58 MK1. I used the carbs and so one from it. I compared the carb setup to the ones that came off the car and look nearly identical. My photo isn't the best but it seems when I attach the wide stationary bar to the swinging hanger the bell crank (or whatever it's called) will not reach it's attachment point. Cn anyone help?

Can't you take the throttle linkage off of your old 340?

That's what I did today. It seems there were some mismatched pieces already mounted. I do have a question though. Does anyone have item number 21 they'd part with or at least give me the total length?
