Hi all - so here is the trottle linkage, and i cant figure out how it connects to the carb... any tips appreciated
Cant find any referecne to this setup in the shop manual
In the second to last photo, the connection in your hand connects to the carburetor linkage and is used to adjust the throttle.
The part on the very end fits on a stud on the side of the intake manifold and is held on by a circlip.
Do you have the carburetors? Here are some pictures of the linkage to them on my S Type. I believe the MK2 is the same.
This is the connector to the shaft connecting both throttle shafts of the carburetors
This is the part in the above illustration in the manual
Another view of the connection to the throttle shafts
The plate between the carburetors that the linkage is mounted on.
There are some illustrations in the parts catalog for the S Type of these components. The MK2 catalog may have them as well
I looks like the only thing you're missing from the linkage are the two return springs and the Y shaped mount that one spring attaches to. Number 75 in the picture. You need springs 76 and 77.

Im going to take a closer look at my 2 carb setups, im pretty sure im missing the fuel pipe too, parts 75-77 dont seem to be available on moss.
do you think i should lean towards the bank with the aircleaners installed?
I would use the carburetors that have the least amount of play in the butterfly shafts meaning they are still sealing well with no air leaks. You can also check SNG Barratt for parts. I got both springs from them. I got the Y shaped bracket from Joe Curto who restores SU carburetors. He also installed new seals, shafts and butterflies on the throttle bodies of my carburetors. He also sells all the parts you would need including the springs. You can find him at www.joecurto.com. I would suggest calling him when you're ready to dig into the carburetors.
I go between Moss and Barrett for my parts. Moss tends to have cheaper prices but Barratt specializes in Jaguar parts specifically and has larger selection most times. Barrett also offers price matching which I haven't tried yet. Also free shipping when spending over $100. That happens a lot with these cars.
Best way I've found to locate parts is to use the part number from the Coventry parts catalog. I think you posted that you have a parts catalog for your car. If not, get one, they're invaluable
So i think i am going to need to make 1 pair out of 2... and as i am missing the air cleaner, may as well use the K&N Style ones... but its squeeky and one of the dashpots feels seized.
Plus 1 for contacting Joe Cuerto !!! He knows these carbs and has the parts that you will need. Very helpful on the Phone. You will need to rebuild your carbs and he can help with all the internal parts as well. I got a Y mount from him as well as misc. other stuff. You do have most of linkage that is necessary - so that is V.good.
Good Luck !
