Jaguar offered a tow bar system and it is fully covered with drawings in the tech bulletins. Find someone with a copy of the TB's and you should be able to replicate the system--do not do as some have and mount to the bumper--it will pull off!

You need technical bulletin N 3 dated March 1960. If none of the clubs or hobby folks in your area have them write me off line as they are intellectual property of JLR and should not be broadcast. You could also ask the JHT for a copy.

Somewhere, I have a tow bracket that I removed from my Daimler V8. I will try to dig it out of my "stores".

I had one too, but I cut mine up and used part of it to make the rotisserie, as it was mounted to the bumper mounts, so I used that part for the rotisserie.

The other part went under the spare wheel well and was bolted through the wheel well to a reinforcing plate inside the well. The two parts formed a T across the rear valence and under the wheel well.

Can I find info about fitting a towbar to an S Type from the tech bulletins too? If so, does anyone know which one? Also, if anyone in Oz (preferably east coast) know of a towbar kit for sale, I'd love to hear about it.

The system was designed and made by Witter. There is no bulletin as far as I can tell that addresses the "S" but an acessories list of the period says there was one. That is not supported by the SPC however. Best of luck.
