Dear all,

I'have 2 rubber parts, see photo below, and I cannot remember if the are part of my S type 1965 and were they must be placed.
Who has the answer?

greetings Hans

Take the piece that’s on the right and rotated 180° then flip it over onto the other and see if the 2/ go together As if it would cover something

to me they don't look like they came from the 1963-1968 S type or the XJ-6 1968-1987.

Maybe MK-2 or XJ-40 assuming they are Jaguar parts. Normally there is a part number on the parts. They look like an underdash air handler box. or even an air filter box but not Jaguar.

I don't recognise them as an S Type part. Recently completed a ground up restoration.

With Glyn on this. Handled and cleaned every part of an S Type 1968 and I have not seen these before.
This type of soft formed rubber is too early to be a 1960's Jaguar. In the top left corner there is a mark that looks like it was held together with a Zip Tie, which again would indicate it is from a later era than the 1960s.

I have a Mk2 in 10,000 pieces and none of them look like that. The pattern on one corner of each almost looks like a hose clamp was there. Sorry.

Thanks for al your answers and I think there is a mix-up with some parts I bought a couple of years ago.
It came with some Triumph stuff so that's probably were it's for.

Another mystery part. This piece of black plastic was amongst the parts stacked in my Mk2 during its 25 years of storage. It's the only bit that I don't recognise. It has the look of something from around the steering wheel or dashboard, but doesn't seem an obvious fit anywhere. The general dimension is 5 inches or so.

Any ideas?

Again not a part from an S Type that I recognise and it is difficult to gauge the size in the photo with nothing to give perspective.
The only thing I can think of is as you have said it is five inches long it might be a cover that goes over the Lucas RB340 voltage regulator. Not that RB340 had one to my knowledge so purely speculation but I cannot think of any other use in a Mk2 or S type Jaguar.
Keep these coming though as one day I might recognise a part.

does not look like any Jaguar part I am familiar with, but it is definitely a Cover for something. Maybe a Fuse or Relay box cover.

and if it has no markings like "Lucas England", definitely not Jaguar.

Not an S Type Part.

S Type Regulator shroud/surround for RB340. I have one fitted. Many get lost. Pushes down over the RB340 cover to hide wiring.

yes, that is the surround for the RB340 in my S type.

Here is a RB340 Voltgage Regulator with hard plastic cover. The surround goes over the black cover and hides the Spade terminals shown in the image. The surround is made of very thin plastic.

how could I not notice? Well I didn't sorry. So go ahead and kill me.

ok, THAT is the a/c Servo cover for the Jaguar XJ-6 with the Delanaire a/c system used in Series 2 and 3 XJ-6. The Servo works to open and close Vent Flaps depending on the selected Temperature. A wonderful climate control system when it works.

here's a Jaguar XJ-6 and XJ-S a/c Servo: It works like a crankhaft pushing and pulling rods connected to flaps instead of pistons

Jose.
Brilliant spot! Many thanks.
I've just come down from excavating in the pile of parts in the roof of my workshop and it is a perfect fit to the old Delanair that I bought in the early 90s as a potential air-con system for the Mk2. It must have become separated in either the packing process in 1994 or the more recent unpacking of spares from inside the Mk2. I should have recognised it as I have worked on the Delanair in my Daimler, though that's also several years ago.

yes Peter,
it's a dust cover for the Servo. Jaguar put dust covers and boots on everything including the Battery. In the XJ-6 they also put a cover surround behind rhe ignition switch and over the Coil..My XJ-6 still has those.

the RB340 surround is still in my S type.

Barratts list it as a Control Box Cover P/N C22662
