XJ6 centre gearbox lever on MK2
Hi decided to start a new post on this subject to see if anyone has advice and/or pictures of how this is accomplished. I understand that the Borg Warner 35 gearbox was also fitted to the XJs so hopefully it is quite a simple change
Basically I have an automatic 340 with column shift and I have purchased an XJ6 gearbox centre selector and am wondering how this is installed. I have seen MK2's with this mod but would like any advise possible.
I had thought about using the old centre console but I figure it would be best to put an XJ version as well to include arm rest.

Hi ray, I have fitted a bw65 from an xj6 to my mk2. Using the xjchange mechanism as you. I mounted the lever to the tunnel, then took the ski slope ( cover) from the cosole then cut a hole in the cover to suit. The console will fit over the lever, the front of the lever is level with the front of the round hole for a manual shift, then cut to the rear to suit.
You then need to alter the slope on the console to accomadate the cable etc.
I welded a peice of metal along each side and finished with body filler.
I have not trimmed it but it is basicaly the same just reprofiled
