Default hello from a fool...

i am often being called a fool or idiot, but i am trying to put a jaguar supercharged 4.0 V8 into my Lotus Excel...

its a work in progress, and i am now starting to strip, test and rebuilt/tidy up the engine...

i am new here, so thought i would post a hello and warning that i am clearly a little bit of a nut case

if anyone is interested in the project the headlines are:
circa 500bhp 2001 Supercharged Jag 4.0 V8 into 1987 Lotus Excel
bespoke FIA roll cage
toyota clutch and gearbox
emerald ecu (wasted spark configuration)
toyota W58 gearbox
toyota diff (3.9:1)
car built for track work (time attack/track days) but road legal (just)

target dry weight of 900kgs
target power to weight of 500bhp/tonne+

Here is the beast before the engine upset

Cheers!
Oz

Welcome to the forum Ozzy_UK,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums and good luck with your project.

Although the V8 is fitted to a number of Jaguar models, follow this link XK8 / XKR ( X100 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues and has more information on the V8 than other model tech forums sharing the same engine.

You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome.

Outside square thinking, awesome.

Like the V12 into a MK2 down here, very sensible upgrade in my opinion.
