Default 1998 XJS Driver seat does not return to position when key is put in ignition

1998 XJS. Everyting about the power seats, mirrors, stearing wheel etc works perfectly. Even the instructions for programming the key fob work as described. The only thing that does not work is when I turn off the car the seat goes all the way back (good thing) but when I enter the car and put the key in the ignition the seat does not return to the original set position. As I said earlier when following the user manual to set the memory buttons and the key fob buttons it all seems to program correctly. Everything else adjust properly- the mirrors, the stearing wheel but not the drivers seat. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help

You are likely to get an answer on the XJS forum, as this is the New Members forum, and not all XJS experts look in here all that often
