All,
I am looking to get behimd the steeringwheel of a 2016 Xjl 3.0 V6. As I do my research, I am constantly reading about the nightmares of engine problems; I understand that these could be the words of people that do not service their vehicles consistantly or at all. I wanted to talk to actual owners that maintain their Jaguars and see 9f they are in factbreliabke cars. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Forums.

NO idea on that model, BUT, that engine is in both the S Types and as a 2.1ltr in the X Type, all being as reliable as ever.

HOWEVER

ALL my Jags, since 1968 have been super reliable.
I out that down to the Brand, and my own sheer stubborn attitude that:
"The best caretaker of YOUR car is YOU"

Your car will have issues that the PO has let go, so they will need attention 1st and foremost, then drive and maintain like any other car.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums Jrhw125,

Service history is critical with ALL used Jaguar models - a neglected example can be a money pit. Most problems on recent Jaguar engine designs result from failing to observe oil change intervals. Servicing is on a TIME or MILEAGE basis and this always means 12 month intervals or more frequently for a high miler. A 2016 should have had 5 scheduled services and this needs to be supported by (ideally itemised) invoices. Checking the PO on a potential purchase is as important as checking the vehicle.

Hello,
There are so few people anymore who actually CARE for their cars it's astonishing to some of us who grew up in a location where that's just what you do! People who didn't care for their cars were classed as Lower Life Forms.

Part of the problem is the modern car itself, designed with little or no personality, basically to run with little or no attention while under warranty. But sometimes after that, well, Katy Bar The Doors!

It's good you ask current owners of Any model you're considering to get the real story and not some Fake News from a few, very vocal haters of that brand, whatever it is.

I wish you success in your search.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
