Default 2001 xk8

I owna 2001 XK8 and have 70,000 miles on it. I travel considerably and am now on travel status a couple of thousand miles from home. My Wife tells me she went to start the car and while it turns over it does not fire. I had a similar problem several months ago, had it towed to a garage and the in-tank fuel pump was replaced. I shouldn't think it would be the same problem although it is the same symptom. I won't be home for a few more days so cannot try any suggestions I may receive but wanted to be armed with some when I get there. I note that one fellow was told to try and reset the computer by disconnecting the battery temporarily. I would be interested in how that worked out for him.

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your problem. As above, check out, cranks but no start searches for reading matter and then, post up your questions when you are reunited with your wife and car.

It could be something as simple as a foot on the accelerator when first cranking, they don't seem to like that. I regularly had to bail my EX out because she just couldn't seem to take in, keep your feet off the pedals until it has started.

Sorry to see that nothing came up for you, I just did a 'cranks but no start" general search and received 133 hits.

Here is one that might give you some info. Cranks but no start.

But you need to post this tech type question in the XK8 section. The guys will pick up on it.
