2003 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas
Hello I have owned the above vehicle for over 15 years with little to no issues. Three years ago my personal mechanic passed and it’s been one horrendous experience. I took my vehicle into the shop to check the heater. Three years later the heater is still not functioning properly. Two weeks ago I was told that I water pump. I still do not have heat. And on top of that, I was about to go out of town to see my mother for Mother’s Day and the oil started running out of the car as if someone had turned on a faucet. I was told that the oil cooler bypass was missing. All of a sudden after the water pump replacement this bypass is missing. What is an oil cooler bypass and what does it look like? Now the repair guy is searching all over the world for this part. My Vin#SAJDA24C13LF51740, please educate me about this issue and why after all these years this part would suddenly dislodge from my car. What should I know about this issue and where can I find a real Vanden plas mechanic in Michigan? I am willing to travel to a good mechanic. Much Gratitude.

Hello,
I'm so sorry you're having such trouble with this shop. It's establishments like this that give repair shops such a bad name. It does sound from here like they're taking you for a ride, as so many think they can do when a woman walks in the door.
D**n I hate that!
Somewhere you Will fine a good independent mechanic who's in the business just for the love of it and is up for a challenge. It might only be someone who works out of their garage on the odd Saturday but loves the work, is diligent and takes Pride in a job done well and most of all, done Correctly!
Ask everyone you know if they can recommend such a person. And then, interview them like you're the NSA. Ask the hard questions. Ask for references, names of satisfied customers and stuff. The person shouldn't be uncomfortable with that after hearing your experiences lately.
I wish you success.
