New Member Intro - Atilla
Thanks for having me. This forum may be a life saver for a newby
I live in the US, in New Jersey, just across the river from Philadelphia and about an hour from NYC. I am 80 years old and have worked on cars for at least 65 years. I am a retired Nuclear Engineer from Cal Tech. I worked for the Atomic Energy Commission and helped develop the KIWI and NERVA atomic rockets that will some day take us to Mars and beyond. I also worked for NASA for many years from Voyager to the Space Shuttle and everything in between. I also helped develop the hardware that made the GPS possible (Global Positioning System). I have always admired Jaguars but they were out of my price and "practically" range.
I recently acquired a 2002 Jag JX8 V8 convertible because the previous owner had grown too large to fit comfortably in the cockpit. It runs and handles beyond my wildest dreams. I only have a few cosmetic issues I would like to find help with. I currently own 2 Mustangs, a 2014 Convertible 3.6 L and a 1993 'Fox Body' 2.3 Turbo Convertible. I will now attempt to post a photo of my favorite ride...Sorry, I need to reduce the size of the file first.
Thanks again for this forum and the vast amount of data available.

I have worked on every make and nearly every model since the early 1940's but no Jags. I'm still learning. Most people think that if they just installed a 'new' part, the problem is solved. New parts and Rebuilt parts are not always a 'good' part'. I see failures every day, that is why dealers and part stores have Warranties. parts made in massive factories don't always have a QC department and they don't test the parts 100%, or at all. Granted, you'll pay premium dollar to have a mechanic shop buy and install your part, but if the part is defective, the mechanic will return it under warranty for a replacement and they charge the supplier for the time it took to replace the defective part. At least you don't have to replace the part yourself.
