2014 Jaguar XJ L portfolio
Hello all, I’m Elliott from Louisiana purchased my first jag last year in august, financed it through the dealership. Absolutely fell in love with it but not so much now it’s costed me almost 3k in the 8 months I’ve had it but recently the motor locked up in it and I still owe roughly 18k on it, my question is what route should I take next owing 18k in financing on a vehicle that needs a 30k motor installed. I’m kinda on the bottom with this deal but just looking for ideas and advice, thanks in advance!
Welcome to the forums Elliott,
Motor "locked up". Are we talking overheated, valves collided with pistons or the absolute catastrophe of a rod through the side of the block?
A new motor from the dealer makes no sense and neither does walking away from 18K owing in finance with nothing. As I see it there's only two options:
1. break it for parts
2. source a warranted used motor
However tempting a rebuild may appear, think very carefully. Jaguar parts are extremely expensive.
