Default 85 XJS 3.6 Owner!

Good evening!

My name's Ashley, and I've taken ownership of my father in law's 1985 XJS 3.6 Manual.

She's in need of restoration, but at least the engine appears to run nice. Supprised how much she pulls once you it around 3,500rpm. Also, how quiet it is while cruising around 70mph. The only issue I can see is that it has an overrun issue where the car violently shunts once you hit around 1,500rpm. Bit of a pain, and worried incase this causes other issues to the car, like mounts, clutch etc.

Currently doing some research but no doubt I'll be posting on here soon for some advice!

Welcome to the forums Ashley,

Good to have you with us.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xjs-x27-32/ to the XJS forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

I've added vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. If you want to change these, go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello, Ashley,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar, even if it comes from your father. At least you know its history.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
