Default '98 XJ8

Hello everybody,

Just inherited a 1998 XJ8 from my Father-in-Law. Excited to start working on it to get it back in shape, and cruise the streets of Austin, TX in style.

If anybody has any initial tech tips for me, i would appreciate the input!

I'm sorry for the circumstances surrounding your acquisition of the Jaguar, but I'm glad you got it and not the wrecker.
Someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where you can get help for your problems.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome.

Take a peek at the X308 section. There are a lot of tips in the "stickies" at the top, and then simply reading some of the posts gives a good handle on the cars.

Welcome to the forum Highlife09,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Have a look at threads on plastic tensioners. These are a regular fail on early Jaguar V8's, usually with catastrophic results.

I can see you've already found your way to the X308 tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the USA Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-southwest-az-tx-nm-ok-37/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
