Another XJS defiler
Hello,
I recently acquired a 1990 XJS Coupe. The car suffered a hood fire several years ago, probably caused by mice. Since the fire it has sat rusting. I don't think the V12 is salvageable.
My plan is EV conversion. I will most likely be using nissan leaf parts since they're relatively cheap. I know she won't be the quickest car, but the XJS is so pretty that if it moves at all I'll be happy.

Hello, Leo,
There are those who will curse the day you were born (as they have those of us who Dare to drive Chevy powered Jags), and although I do Not like the whole fashion-driven rush to get on the EV band wagon as I think it's ill-advised long term, it's YOUR car and you have a perfect right to do whatever YOU want to do with it.
Depending on the conversion you choose, it Might be the quickest car, unless you have a racing Tesla next door.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Leo,
Good to have you with us.
Although not salvageable, that doesn't also mean not valuable. You could get some useful $$ back for the engine and ancilliaries from someone stuck with a blown engine.
I can see you've already found your way to the XJS forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums and good luck with your project. We've several members who have gone down the alternative fossil fuel powertrain route but yours is a greater technology challenge.
