Default Australian Xj40 Daimler Hello

Hi Members
New member from Queensland Australia
I had an XJ40 Daimler follow me home and it has convinced me to keep it around.
I haven’t had a project car for 20 years or more but am looking forward to getting this girl back on the road.
I am an Approved Vehicle Engineer in Queensland so know a little bit about engines and car design but have never owned and to be honest never aspired to be a Jaguar owner.
But now I am excited about starting this project.

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar Xj40!
I saw one of those 'in the flesh' once, it was RED, neglected in a car port, under cover and out of the rain but obviously not driven for a very long time.
I wish you success in your renovation project.

Welcome to the forums form ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Skantz,

Good to have you with us.

The Daimler is a rare and desireable variant. Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj40-xj81-25/ to the XJ40 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thanks Graham and all the others making me feel welcome.

I have been surprised by how rare they are as I didn’t expect that when I let it follow me home. It would be interesting to know how many are still around. But since learning where she fits in the family I think I will target a restoration with a gentle touch.

Found the elusive rear light lenses and fish tank headlights and some lattice rims. Sorry Sister Sovereign will give these up as she has a bad case of tin worm.

Being an engineer I’m also interested in the challenge of reinstalling SLS.

Will be slow but I will update when I get the Daim back on the road

Cheers
Derek
