Default B Jones.... Boot will not open

I have a 2.5 petrol automatic X Type 2005 model and has only 29000 miles on the clock. I had a problem with the luggage compartment lock. It would not open. The fault was a wire which was broken at the point just before the wire entered the luggage compartment from inside the vehicle. All it needed was some insulating tape which could have been fitted at the factory during assembly and this would have prevented this happening. That was the easy bit. The major task was getting into the luggage compartment. the only way was to remove the rear seats. I would urge anyone with an X Type to do what I had to do before the problem arises.

Welcome to the forum B Jones,

Sorry to hear about your issue with the luggage compartment. The harness breaking at the hinge point is a fault on a number of Jaguar models.

Follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type section for help, advice and to post your own contributions. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

I know you've already found the UK Region section but here's the direct link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham
