back to Jaguar!
hello all, i finally pulled the trigger on an 88 xj40 with 78k miles. shes racing green / tan base model 3.6l. she is a florida car and appears to be in stellar cosmetic shape with a few of the usual "glitches " to take care of such as brake accumulator. i am currently waiting for her to be wrenched from the sunny south and thrown onto a transport to chilly north NJ. a few years ago when i got married i had a 96 xjs conv celebration , and bought my wife a 2000 xj8. both have since been sold. my other venture into british motoring was a 74 tr-6. anyhow, i have already been reading posts nightly preparing for some maintenance activities, and looking forward to getting into it with you lot. hopefully i will meet some of you in the NYC area. ive been to britfest when moss motors was still here and brought the xjs. i hope there are still some gatherings like that , as well as the JAG group which i know has monthly breakfast criuses. will post some pics as soon as she gets here!

update
well, she showed up on the transport (the stork) this afternoon! in true ebay fashion , it was clear there were plenty more unmentioned dings and ships. im missing a trim filler on the driver side rain gutter near the top aft side of the rear window. antenna looks to be permanently stuck at half mast. the car seemed to have th unmistakable odor of a 90 year old person (nothing against the elderly , but you may know what i mean). glove box was extremely tough to open / very tight. front end of the headliner was pulled from the area where it meets the windscreen. whoever this car was handed down to did some real amatuer butcher repairs. they tried putting too big of a screw in to anchor the sunvisor clip and it actualy pushed out the roof metal! driving wise, i couldnt really take it out due to no plates / insurance, but the steering wheel needs to be centered and i heard something that may be slop in balljoints. i got a chance to do a wash and got all the road grime and bugs off her. put a quick coat of wax and did some leather cleaning. i will try to take some pics tomorrow but it may rain and she is under cover now. i hope if i show it love she will be good to me!! oh and i REALLY need to remove the purple-ish ghetto tint!
