Default Broken outside rear door handle 1992 xj40

Good day, I'm a new member, I'm a bit of a Jag tragic, have the following:
1992 Daimler Sovereign,
1974 SWB XJ 6 (have replaced engine & gearbox with 350 Chev - Turbo 400),
1968 420G - all original
1960 MK 10 - ( convertible in progress - removed roof, welded up back doors, dropped rear parcel shelf, welded in tubular steel reinforcing etc.etc.).

I live in Rye on the Mornington Penisula, outside Melbourne, Australia.

I am stuck trying to open / unlock rear door on the Daimler (xj40 92 mod,), without damaging too much. The door outside door handle does not seem to be connecting, it just flaps up and down. Is it possible to open door from the outside using suitable wire or rod (shimshamming??)
Would really appreciate some assistance, thanks, Ozdaz.

Welcome to the forum Ozdaz,

That's quite a collection you've got there. Certainly like to see pictures, especially of the Mk10 conversion.

It's a while since I had an XJ40 but I remember the driver's door handle was something of a regular for the fault you describe on your Daimler rear door. Put the question on the XJ40 section and I'm sure current owners will know the way to open it.

Graham
