Default Buying first Jag on Saturday

Just had an offer accepted on a 2002 XK8 in Antigua Blue. Picking it up on Saturday, and then the adventure begins.

Welcome to the forums Alan,

Good to have you with us.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

I can see you've already viewed the guidance for new members so no need for a prompt from me.

Enjoy the XK8 and the forums.

Graham

Hello, Alan,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar Xk8!
I decided some time ago that an Xk8 will be my Next Jaguar. All I need to do is add another stall to the garage...........

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

So the adventure begins with a battery almost completely drained the day after I drove it home. Not a huge surprise as the seller did say it was draining in a couple of days. Once my battery charger arrives I'll try the graphite in the ignition trick, and if that doesn't work I'll start looking for the fuse box.

Make room for a CTEK on your Christmas list.

Thanks Graham 😊 I did indeed buy a trickle charger and the car started up. With my new meter I discovered that it was pulling 1A with nothing on. Putting graphite in the ignition reduced that down to 200mA, the first of many times to thank this forum. 200 mA shows there is still a problem, but that's lower down the list.
I have an alternating 'Electrical fault' 'Suspension Error' showing on the dash but my new code reader shows only P1000. Everyone says start with a new battery, I put a brand new Yuasa YBX5019 in, but no joy.
This thread Electrical fault / suspension fault has been fixed by replacing a diode behind the drivers side (UK) fuse box. I'll check the appropriate fuse first (gotta buy some fuses first!), and then the diode, and then I'll be pulling out the seat I guess.

P1000 is OnBoard Monitoring tests NOT completed. Someone has cleared the codes recently or your would have P1111 (OnBoard Monitoring tests complete). One of these two status codes is always present.
