I know nothing about how to fix them. for now I need to find the part that holds the door open when parked. I don't know the part name or no. could you help an old man. thanks

Welcome to the forum Charles,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

(I've moved your post from the end of Hex Type's Intro to a new one of your own so everyone sees it.)

The part that holds the door open is called the CHECK ARM. It's a regular issue to find these splitting the metal of the door frame. You need to check (no pun intended) if the Check Arm is broken or the door frame is damaged.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the USA Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link USA Lower Atlantic - NC SC FL GA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Enjoy the forums.

Hello, Charles,
Congratulations on your first Jaguar! Good for you!
Someone in the XJ8 section will probably be able to tell you exactly what the part is called, where to get it, and how to install it.

Welcome from ElinorB.
