Hi Folks,
Just joined the forum after digesting valuable information here for some months.
I live near Oxford in the UK after moving down from Durham some years ago and have been a UK JEC member for over 20 years.
Bought my 4th Jaguar since 1996 14 months ago, car is a gorgeous 1998 Carnival Red XKR Coupe with 43,000 miles up when I bought it, now has 48,000 miles. It had 3rd generation tensioners and new chains etc fitted together a new water pump and thermostat at the same time a couple of years ago.
Car recently completed a week trip to France visiting Classic Le Mans and covered a trouble free and enjoyable 740 miles.
I do most of my own maintenance and since buying this car I've replaced rear lower shock absorber bushes (they rattled), changed tranmisson oil/filter, changed supercharger oil, replaced front brake calipers, pads, brake flexi hoses and other general preventative measure servicing.
Best Jaguar I've ever owned.
Happy motoring

Welcome to the forum Denton,
As you've been harvesting information for some months, there's no need to give you a link to the XK8 section.
To find a 1998 XKR with only 43k miles is most unusual in the UK. Good to see all the known weaknesses have had attention and that you are also keen to exercise it on the roads of mainland Europe.
Enjoy the XKR and the forum.
Graham
