Cool Does Who Owned Jaguar Motor Company Make A Difference?

I have owned a 1976 Triumph TR-6 (last year built) since 1986, the second one I've owned, the first was a 1974. I renovated it in 2007 and installed a Moss Supercharger and it made it a different car. My service guy is the best and nicest Jag tech in the Valley (IMHO) and going into his shop has had me ogling at all the super cool Jags lined up in his parking lot. I'm ready to graduate to the next level. I've started a campaign to get my wife to not be too mad when I come home with a Supercharged XKR. I've done some research on this forum which has been VERY helpful and I intend to talk to my Jag guy, but I'm just wondering if there is any difference in cars based on who owned Jag when they were produced? Given my price-point and desire for some audio tech stuff I'm leaning toward a low-mile 2008 XKR convert. when I think Ford last owned the company. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum mr1put,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I think how the PO has looked after the vehicle is a considerably more important factor than the name on the factory title deeds. With the exception of British Leyland, successive owners of Jaguar have tended to input cash and avoid interference in design. Ford certainly poured in prodigious amounts of money and brought the efficiencies of big business to the marque. I think it's still too early to say what the verdict on Tata will be.

It sounds like you probably already know your way to the tech section but if not, follow this link XK / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK/XKR forum for help, advice and information.

Good luck in the search for the right XKR for you. Enjoy the forums.
