Default Engine Safe Mode Light

Lately my 2000 Vanden Plas has been exhibiting a frequent Engine Safe Mode yellow light. When I took it to the local Chrysler dealer, who claims foreign car knowledge and has worked on my car, he indicates he is unable to detect any fault codes.

Welcome to the forum MurrayT2,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar Forums. Sorry to hear about to engine issue.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues. For your 'safe mode' issue, starting a new thread there with as much information as possible will help owners with the same model to give the best advice. For instance, whether this an intermittent fault and did the local Chrysler dealer have the opportunity to check for codes when the fault was present.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Mid Atlantic Region section by following this link Mid Atlantic - MD VA DC DE WV - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

You’re not seeing the codes are often caused by one of two situations. The first is that the fault is proprietary or the fault is temporary. In order to see a temporary fault you will need to have your OBDII code reader connected as you are driving the car and the Fail Safe appears. The Proprietary fault will need to be read by a Jaguar dealership.
