Finally made it here... after 50 years!
When I met the girl of my dreams in 1977, we quickly discovered about 20 very unusual things we had in common. One was that ever since 1962, we had each harbored a passion to someday own an XKE. That passion revived when the XK8/XKRs came out, and we followed their evolution for a decade, concluding after careful analysis that for us, the pinnacle was reached with the 2002 XKR.
We had to wait 15 more years before we could afford one. That day finally came last week when--for Yvonne's birthday--I flew to Grand Rapids and drove 1100 miles home in the car of our dreams... down to the build date and color combination. See my album "XKE becomes XKR" for comparison of our car with its original incarnation.
This forum has been the main source for our research and a continual inspiration. We've looked forward to joining as Jag owners. Thanks for all the info we've gleaned in the past and for all the adventures we'll share in the future.
Faithfully,
Roger & Yvonne

Welcome to the forum Roger & Yvonne,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
That's been a VERY patient wait for your Jaguar.
It sounds like you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
You can also visit the US Southwest Region forum by following this link US Southwest - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the XKR and the forums.

Welcome Roger and congratulations on your perfect Jag find.
Very interesting photo comparison! The same shop just happened to have an XKE in a similar color to the XKR8! The similarities are obvious when you see them side by side.
Happy top-down cruising! you must be thrilled.
