Default First Jaguar at 72 years old

All my life I have wanted to own a Jaguar. First looked at an S Type in 1959 for $750. Didn't have the cash. My 17 year old ego was crushed.
After a full life, and a little retirement, today I purchased a 2000 XK8 with 48K on it from a lady driver in Atlanta. The car appears to be mint. I hope so, as I can't afford any major breakdowns; ergo I am here on the forum to learn all the short-cuts and cost-savers that you guys already know. I am intimidated by the balance of members; talking about this stereo and that cold air thingamabob. I just want to know what to do when the left blinker blinks on the right. With fingers crossed, I will go buy some tyres (as they say). Any help or advise you can give this old veteran will be manna, believe me. In the meantime, if you want to know the kinetic energy of a .308 at 400 yards, I can help you out. Mike, CWO Army Intel (ret).

Hello, Mike,
Hearty Congratulations on your first Jaguar! All good things come to those who wait they say, whoever "They" are.

Not everyone in here is only interested in installing the latest stereo. If you post a question about your car, certainly someone will be able to answer you and help you fix it.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

PS: About the .308, I think it depends on the load, but maybe between 1500 and 1575 Ft. Lbs @ 400 yards?

Welcome aboard Mike. Enjoyed your intro, thanks.

Looks odd to be a junior member and be 72,but that will change. I only know one other around your age that is internet capable so there's an advantage. And an XK8,I like your style.

Lets hope you don't need the forum for problems, not for awhile anyway. Maybe a pic if you get time, and is Elinor close? Seems she might have more insight than me and that alone sounds like a problem.

Good Luck and hope you enjoy the new wheels,Neil

Welcome.

Jaguars are such patient beings, they can wait for you for a very long time.

Nice pick up with the XK8, and YES, the guys and gals on the XK8 section will certainly assist when the need arrives.
