Hi all,
I wanted to say hello as I've just registered an account. Although I'm new to this forum, I'm not new to Jaguars or indeed Internet forums for that matter but I've been looking for an online resource to scratch the Jag itch and I think I may have found it!
I'm the proud owner of a 1987 XJ-S 3.6 Manual which is the car that I preserve and cherish, with the aim of keeping it as low mileage and pristine as possible, and I also have a rather knackered Daimler 4.0 Auto XJ-40 or "The Duchess" as she's known! 191k miles and counting.
I'm also the proud owner of a 2.0 EFi Maestro Austin Vanden Plas, and I'm the secretary of the Maestro Owners'club... Someone one said that as a Maestro-owning Jag nut, I keep my light under a bushel. Perhaps not that kind though!
The Daimler was given to me in 2006 (in return for a donation to charity) so that I could do the Staples2Naples banger rally and I fell in love with it so instead of scrapping it in Italy in 2006 (which was the original plan) she came home with us and has just done the rally again this year.
The Duchess

The XJ-S

I'm looking forward to Discussing Jag with you all!
Cheers for now,
SR.
PS apologies for all the extra apostrophes there seems to be a bug in the forum software or my browser...

Thanks all for your kindwelcome!
I don't know if anyone's interested, but there's a blog of our European trips here- you can see how grumpy the Duchess gets in the Swiss Alps!
Also I did a bit of analysis on the figures we got off the trip computer. Can you believe that on the day we had no brakes and drove the car really gently using engine braking all the way we got 33.9 mpg over a distance of 386 miles?! Wow.

Hi Simon and welcome to the forum. I assume you must be from the UK looking at the number plates.
I love the XJS and the XJ40. I know someone else who uses Jags for rallies like this. I'll see if I can find some pictures. Keep the Dutchess going on these trips until she drops, its for good causes.
Keep us up to date on your trips with her.
