First post - New Boston member, new to Jaguar, ordering new XF S
Hello all. As the title says, I'm new here and new to Jag.
I'm an older guy (I bought my first car in 1979) and have been buying mostly German performance sedans for over 30 years. My first was a 1984 BMW 528e. For the last 15 years, I've been lucky enough to own Porsche 911s as well (my current one is a 2015 GTS Cab).
Five years ago, I moved away from BMW for the first time since the 80s. I'm a traditional performance car buyer and BMW had moved too far to the luxury side of the performance/luxury continuum. I ended up in an Audi S4 and have absolutely loved it. It's a real sleeper of a performance car. I should also mention that until now, I have driven nothing but MT cars and would never have considered a modern Jaguar.
But I've known for a long time that my MT days were numbered (thank god for Porsche) and a week or so ago, I finally threw in the towel trying to find a performance/luxury/AWD/MT sedan. I have to admit, that decision was rather exhilarating, allowing me to open up my mind to vehicles that I otherwise would never have considered. And that led me to the XF S AWD. I have to say that I've been blown away by the car's handling, performance, and tech (at least the upcoming tech). It's much closer to a traditional BMW 5er than the current 5er is. I drove it for the first time on Friday, I finalized pricing today and plan on placing the order tomorrow morning. It's exciting (and a little scary) to be moving from German to English cars, but here I am!
I'll be placing an order for an MY17 XF S AWD. July delivery. Italian Racing Red with 20" Labyrinths, Oyster/Jet with Carbon Fiber (do I need to write Fibre now??), and all options except the Black Pack. It will include the new Tech Pack with the 10.2" center display and Virtual Instrument Cluster.
This is all very exciting. I don't think I ever imagined that there'd again be an English sedan that out-performed the Germans. But here we are!
Cheers all!

It's going to seem like a very long three months until delivery.
I can see you've already found your way to the X260 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.

Nice intro, like how you describe your way to the brand.
