Smile First time jaguar owner......what have I done!

Ok, mid life crisis past me by but I couldn't resist the urge to buy a 20 year old XJ8, 4.0L for just over £1,000.
I thought what could possibly go wrong.
I love the car. It has a few issues (what 20 year old car doesn't). Saggy head liner, slight rear end knock, chain tensioners, original transmission fluid so I know I'm going to get my hands dirty.
Bodywork looks excellent, no visible rust. Interior looks brilliant (apart for headliner) and only 83,500 miles.
Looking forward to sorting her out over the coming weeks.
Recommendations always welcome, especially for reliable independent Jaguar mechanic not to far from north Bedfordshire.

Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
83,000+ miles is Just now well broken in! Still tight enough to be quiet, but loose enough to spin really smoothly!

What you've done is, you've acquired a car that will appreciate every little thing you do for it. It will serve you faithfully until its dying day, you'll fall hopelessly in love with it and wonder why it took you so long to get a Jaguar. That's what you've done.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

That's very reassuring! I feel quite at home already.
Graham, I'll be taking your advice and trawling through past posts for guidance and reassurance. It's good to hear help is only a post away.

ElinorB, well I think I have that connection already and looking forward to the journey - wherever it takes me!!

Welcome to the forums. The headliner has always been a problem with our X308's. If you use the advance search and enter headliner and choose X308 you will find a lot of info about getting it all back in shape. The forum is a great bunch of folks always will to lend a helping hand.
