Default G'day all

Hi all. Just saying G'day as a newbie.

Haven't had my 5.0L XF for very long, but it only took one kick of the accelerator for love at first drive. Alas, my technical input will be near to nil, but I look forward to joining in all things Jaguar.

I haven't got the 'create album' link showing anywhere on my user CP, (well at least i can't find it after an extensive search) so you can't see the image of the horrid event I intended to post - an egg smashed over the boot -($4,500 of paint repairs to follow - splashed onto roof, side and rear panels!!), I though it might be of...interest.

Cheers and beers everyone.

Welcome to the forum jagmanjan,

Follow Steve's link to the XF tech section for help, advice and information.

You won't be able to setup a forum 'garage' until you've got 3 Days membership AND a minimum of 10 Posts (both required). However, you can attach pics to your posts straightaway. Follow this link for info:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...pictures-2418/

You can either upload pics direct from your PC or link to OnlIne storage such as Photobucket. Both methods are detailed in the above linked thread.

Got to see pics of this egg damage to the paint.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Thank you for the welcome guys. Here's the photo...hope it works http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps0ca5f0fe.jpg

I will try to get a decent shot of the paint 'crazing' before it goes in for the respray. I had it buffed the day after, and the result was surprisingly good, however, because the egg had literally cooked onto the paint, the damage was still noticeable. Where the eggshell is resting on the boot, the paint is pitted with minute pin ****** right through to the undercoat. I would have to point out the damage for anyone to see it, but the repair guy saw it straight away and pointed out more. - He said it would get worse over time, and while I could probably live with the paint as it is now, I don't want to watch it deteriorate before my eyes. Oh well, nobody died, but the $350 excess is annoying.

Edit: I just had a look at the photo via photo bucket...it shrunk by heaps. Guess I got it wrong....

http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps0ca5f0fe.jpg is this better?

Is this the original scale of the photo or has something happened in Photobucket?

The affected area is much more extensive than I was expecting.

The second one is much clearer:

Bootlid, rear wing and rear bumper all marked. That's some remedial work needed but it sounds like your paint shop guy is going to catch it all.

Good luck.

...and worse, the rest of the egg shell and indeed it's contents splashed up onto the roof and pitted the paint like on the boot. Fingers crossed for a great paint job. (paint guy is highly recommended by all and sundry)
