G'day from Aus
Hi,
I've been the owner of a 2018 XE-S for about 12 months now.. it's been an interesting ride so far, after a few months of ownership and loving the thing I copped a rock to the windscreen on the freeway which has taken eight months to repair! Jag have supplied three faulty windscreens in a row - all three have had visible waviness and distortion that rendered the car undriveable - so my dream car's been sitting in the shed since about November last year. Since Jag don't seem to be able to supply quality glass, she goes back to the glass place next Friday to have a generic windscreen fitted... hopefully that'll be the end of that debacle, and I'm hoping to fall back in love with the vehicle once I can drive it again.
I like to modify cars and before this one got sidelined I managed to get two jobs done... an LED conversion (indicators, brake/tail, reverse, puddle lamps, and interior), and a three-layer dynamat install in all four doors that absolutely transformed the audio. I had plans for a tune and a pulley, an exhaust, some slightly bigger wheels with a different offset to give it a slightly wider track, an extra lip around the bumper/valance/side sills, an upgrade from Meridian to Meridian Surround, and probably an F-type LSD; all of that went on hold when she got stuck in the shed, but now the end of the windscreen drama is in sight I'm starting to get keen on that stuff again. I really enjoy documenting my projects and writing how-to guides so I'll post those up as I go along; I already have one written up for the dynamat install which I'll post up some time soon. The long term plan for this car is to either finish the above and enjoy it for another year or two until I'm ready for an upgrade, or go all out and turn it into a track car. The chances are about 90% the former and 10% the latter as it's a LOT of car to gut for the track, so if I do want to run an XE as a track car I'll most likely look out for one that's been written off and repair it.
A bit about me.. I've always been into cars and dreamed of having a car like this since I was a kid. I own a few companies that do various things, but the one that's most relevant here builds custom vehicles for industrial applications (mainly utes and trucks for traffic control companies)... as our industrial stuff becomes more systemised and we're pumping those out easily, we're going to start building custom street and race cars as well as high-end adventure campers. I really just love doing and learning new things and sharing those learnings with others, hence my love for documenting projects and writing how-tos.
Looking forward to learning from this forum and hopefully contributing to the knowledge base!
Cheers

Thanks! I'm in Newcastle.
I notice your post says it's been edited, but I can't see an edit button for my posts (I tried to add the pic above to the first post). Is that something I can't do until I've got enough posts to get my Ps?

Hello,
I'm sorry you're having such trouble getting a new windshield. I can only imagine the disappointment, especially as you're plainly a Car Guy.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

EDIT: edit button is there on mobile, I was on my PC yesterday
EDIT 2: edit button now showing on PC too, I'm certain it wasn't there yesterday (I would've added my photo to my first post if it was). Maybe I'm just going nuts

this is the first car of this pedigree that I've ever been able to afford and it was a reward for the work I put into my business' growth... To enjoy it for 3 months then have it sidelined for 8 months has been crap. I pretty much fell out of love with the car and was ready to sell, but nobody's buying it with these dodgy parts. Luckily with the end in sight I'm starting to get the bug again so hopefully a few small projects will reignite my love for her 🤞 I'm just about to pull her out of the shed for a detail so she's clean for the windscreen place on Friday 😊Thanks for the welcome!
