Smile Gearbox, Delay in engaging drive

My 4.0L S type 2002 with 5R55N auto box experiences a delay when selecting Drive from the Park position. My instinct is to replace the Forward engagement spring, although other sources suggest I should re-program the PCM to the latest calibration level, others suggest a cable problem. Any advice most welcome as to do this by trial and error looks costly and time consuming.

Welcome to the forum bluexpeter,

Follow Norri's link to the S-Type section for help, advice and information before reaching for your wallet! The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Smile Thanks

Thanks Guys, I have to admit I was unsure where to post this issue. I have re-posted it in the Tech issue section, sorry if that's against the rules i.e. posting the same issue twice! As far as I know it's a 5 speed box. Again any help most appreciated

Although we usually 'have a word' about post whoring as it's known, in this instance I'd have copied it to S-Type tech section for you anyway as that's where the experts are to be found on this transmission issue.

Good luck.
