An enthusiast, but not yet an owner. I've recently retired and am still using my 250,000 mile Acura on days that a motorcycle doesn't suit, but I want a luxury vehicle as a second car and to use for traveling in comfort. I've decided to seek a used XJ8 (preferably VDP) but I'm pretty clueless as to what to pay attention to when shopping for one. Advice I've received points to a pre '04 model as being more desirable, and stay away from air suspension, though I don't know what years were equipped with that. I'm also aware of the cam-chain tensioner issue, and that appears to be within my ability to handle. I'd be grateful to hear from other members who can share their advice and experiences. (Also leads on possible candidate cars?)
