Good Day
Hi to all forum members,
Ive recently just by chance purchased an early XK8 in sound condition with seamingly no faults. just liked the style and shape of this car. As all of us, with the added attraction of a v8 to maintain.
the engine runs silently as does the transmission, Ive been reading intensly the threads covering the XK8, covering the major issues such as tensioners, transmission, water pump.
As advissed in the many threads i removed cam covers to find early tensioners, cracked with missing shoes. so the forum has saved another otherwise sound engine. so prior to any driving at all, im going to replace all tensioners and chains, and change that transmission oil.
Great forum.

Welcome to the forum,
Good to hear you found the tensioner issue before anything drastic happened and the forum has already helped you discover the other weaknesses on the XK8.
After that research, there'll be no need to point you in the direction of XK8/XKR 1996-2006 section for answers!

Hi to all,
thanks for the welcome from everyone. Its one thing to think you have a plan, its another thing to carry it out. Ive been weighing up what to do and what not, ive yet to get stuck in. the v8 is so smooth, pulling it apart is a little concerning, but better than letting it self destruct.
im sure with a few more threads ill have a greater idear.
thanks
