Greetings from Finland!
I have enjoyed the various sides of British motoring for many years with some specimens from the Land Rover family. A few years back, my wife indicated that a convertible could be nice. I took the hint seriously - as a hint coming from the Wife should be taken. In abt. 15 minutes I found an XJS convertible on auction in a town so far from us that there was no chance to go and see it. I made a modest bid, convinced that the risk of winning something that I knew nothing about was very low. We won it anyway.
The car had come to Finland from Florida already some years before the auction. The formalities for registering it in Finland were unfinished, so the car had not seen much of our nine-month wet winter during its stay here. It was in a reasonably good condition - except for the leather on the front seats which was burnt to a crisp and the soft top that had been slit open on the side. Those were soon sorted and we have been enjoying the smooth ride ever since.
