2011 XK Ctek set up with split sleeving protecting the leads
I've been a XK convertible owner since 2013 when I bought my used '11 Jaguar. I love this car and I have spent a lot of time processing the information from this forum as a guest. I most enjoy driving this GT and tinkering around with some straight forward stuff.
I've learned a great deal and I with to thank all of the contributors for their hard won insight and knowledge to help me do the following:.
I've replaced the battery (not hard, just some strength and gymnastic skill), refined the Ctek connections (not hard, some gymnastic skill and a little detective work), planning to do my own oil changes with a vacuum pump in the future (amazed and somewhat confused with the impassioned oil allegiances).
Fretted over some potential common trouble areas that have been reported by members (water pump, chain tensioner, TMS sensors, battery drain, duck bill and convertible top rear window).
Kept the car locked and on a trickle charge when going unused for any length of time.
Detailed interior and exterior, clay bar, paint correction and wax
Used a low profile floor jack on the jacking point to swap a tire out for wheel refinishing (this took real physical strength as the wheel and tire weigh a lot and you need to get down low and cushion the jacking point with a strategically placed grooved hockey puck).
Inspected the pollen filter (probably the easiest thing in this car to unveil)
Added custom a Jag manufacturer break and gas pedals (a little drilling while ridiculously splayed out over the sill).
My next simple embellishment is to add a "leaper" badge to the trunk lid. My wife is not a fan of the "growler". OEM leapers are super expensive for achieving some simple bling, Replica leapers are 1/5 the cost. I've read the old posts about placing a leaper on the trunk. Is there any discernible quality difference between OEM and replica leapers? Which replica leaper supplier would you recommend? Has anyone found that the adhesive damages the finish? Thanks all and stay safe and well.
Good to have you with us and to hear you've found useful information.
As you've already found your way to the X150 forum, there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
