Default Greetings from Vancouver

Hi.
I recently bought my first Jag a 97 XJ6.
I *love* it.
It is in good nick and has less than 119,000 kM on it so I expect to have it for years to come.
That being said it is not without its foibles and over time I will be calling upon the collective wisdom here in my efforts to get it fully functional.
For starters the driver's side mirror turns down when I open the car with the remote but neither mirror deflects when I put it into reverse. Should I reset the chip or should I leave well enough alone. I lean towards the latter.
I live in Vancouver BC and expect to use the car for light weekly driving as I am close to transit and transit is cheaper and faster than driving (and parking) for most of my daily commutes.
I have had two fuel fills since I bought it and I seem to be getting about 300kM per fill or 20L/100kM. This seems a bit high. I have been using Chevron Premium Plus 94 Octane as it does not contain ethanol.
I would welcome comments from those with more experience than I have on my choice of fuel.

Welcome to the Forums.

The X300 was/is one of the most robust and reliable Jaguars ever released.

Clean air, clean oil, clean fuel, it will run forever.

I will leave the fuel to those in your market, but both of mine ran sweet as on our 95RON, None E fuel, and 12/100 suburban was common, and 9ish/100 on Road Trips.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums Staffo,

An excellent choice for a first Jaguar. The X300 is generally one of the most reliable of the recent models. Check if your vehicle has driving position memory as it could be setting the mirror to a PO's preference. Only the passenger side mirror should tilt down for reversing but it's a while since I had an X300 and I can't recall the button sequence for this. Members with the same model will be able to advise.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the Canada Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/canada-73/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
I wonder if you realize, these cars Love to run. It's not necessary to baby them with "light use."
So any time you feel the urge,
TAKE IT OUT ON THE FREEWAY AND OPEN HER UP!!
Run her hard and run her fast!
Blow the cob webs out of the system!
She'll Love you for it.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

I can see your SIGNATURE. It looks like you tried to include a SIG_PIC but this hasn't worked:

If so, the reason is most likely your image exceeds permitted size limits. I reduced your image from post #1 as an example to comply. You will have to do the same to include this (or any other image) as a SIG_PIC.

I used Windows Paint but any photo editing software is suitable.
