Default Grinding sound from left rear

97XK8, 130k, I am the new owner of this car, previous owner gave up on fuel tank repair (pump, rust). He had removed entire rear end. I have the car together and running, car is in beautiful shape, but it emits a grinding sound from the left rear. Does not make it with moderate or hard acceleration or foot off the gas. I can hold slight accelerate force and cause the noise ( slight load or no load on bearings. Break pads are nearly new, park brake shoes properly adjusted, cable adjusted per forum recommendations. Shake test - slight play (normal) u - joints , everything's tight. It's not a bearing rumble, more like a grinding, worn out, mis aligned break pad. I can feel it when it grinds it creates a sensation ( shudder) in the drive train. Hope I've been descriptive enough as this doesnt seem to exactly match other forum noise in - the - rear problems. Planning to pull the hub and remove bearings just so I'll know.

Thanks for the suggestions. Have had several friends listen to this sound. They tell me it is a noise from the exhaust vibrating against something. Makes since because I had the entire rear end out of the car. I just have to find it now.
