Happy first time X-Type owner
Hello, allow me to introduce myself.
LVStreeterror
Las Vegas, Nevada
2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 AWD 5 Speed manual
19" Donz 2 peice wheels
Air suspension
Borla Exhaust with the Oe resonator
I never intended to own a Jaguar or any other car for that matter. I was injured in a motorcycle accident recently. As a result I had to find a new mode of transportation. One with more wheels and a seatbelt.
I had a few other requirements on my list as well :
1. First off and most important to me was a manual transmission
2. AWD or RWD
3. Cold Air Conditioning (Desert Temperatures out here exceed 110F often)
4. My last wish when buying this used vehicle was that the cosmetic appearance be somewhat attractive to me.
I found numerous options that met that criteria. I test drove and inspected close to 3 dozen different vehicles. Each one had a lot to offer but most did not meet all of my requirements. I was ready to stop looking. I decided to do one last search on eBay. I narrowed down the results based on my first two needs and came across a neat looking 02 Jaguar X-type. Turns out the car was local to me and the owner used it as a demo/display vehicle for 10 years of its life. So it was kept clean, indoors and driven to car shows regularly.
I could not be happier with my purchase. Yes this car has some specific annoying issues with it. But, so far, it is completely worth it. All my needs have been met along with plenty of airbags, seatbelts, and wheels to keep my wife happy as well.
I have a nicely equipped garage at home and quite a bit of time on my hands since being injured so buying a car that was going to be torn down redone and upgraded even further was just what I needed. I have built a number of air-ride vehicles in the past and since this one was attempted by its previous owner I went ahead and decided I would complete the build and change a few things along the way myself.
So far I have the wheel wells massaged, inner fenders removed/missing and the fenders lips rolled to allow the fitment of 245/35-19's and still have room for the air bags in the front. I am using an Air Zenith compressor, 5 gallon tank, Accu-air E-Level ride control paired to a V4 manifold with 2 Slam Specialties Re5 bags in the rear and two 6" Double convoluted bags over adjustable struts up front.
