Default Hello

Hi there, new member here. Have a 2002 xtype and its my first jag despite being a fan since a kid. And as i learn about the car im realizing they are quite tempermental creatures!! I always thought these kittens loved to be washed and clean! But everytime i give it a quick bath some electrical component goes ary until it dries. Wich suprises me as i always though the U.K was quite a damp aNd humid climate. I fear for having to drive it in a heavy rain! Haha i look forward to learning from other members here and contributing to the forums as i try to decide wether to fix it up or use it to cook hot dogs! Cheers.

Welcome to the forum Wiringissues,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Are you washing the engine compartment? I've driven many Jaguars over the years in England and never had electrical issues caused by our frequent rain.

Follow this link
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Canada Region forum by following this link
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/canada-73/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

hi there and thanks for the links no i have shyed away from opening the bonnet at the car wash as she gets mad enough just from the exterior wash... Typical cat 🐱! Im starting to suspect corroded or bare wiring between the gauge cluster and wherever the heck it derives power from outside the cabin, as ithe engine light comes on and the temp gauge goes to max overheat... The display says cruise unavailable...but the cruise is clearly still availble as now im not overeacting to her moodswings and just keep going knowing its not actually overheatin lol

Modern Jaguars are all VERY sensitive to battery charge and condition. Many members have chased weird electrical/electronic behaviour only to find the battery (and specifically the battery leads in the case of the X-Type) have been the cause. Always worth eliminating this first before moving on to more "exotic" possibilities.
